DUNIN7-M4 — INFRASTRUCTURE CHANGE REQUEST

CR-2026-180 — B-13: ask your engagement (v0.1)

Version. 0.1 · Date. 2026-08-06 · Author. Claude.ai (drafting) / Marvin Percival (approving). Target. /Users/dunin7/loomworks-engine (+ surface if the ask surfaces a UI need — CC confirms at Step 1). Baseline. Post CR-2026-179. Hard prerequisite: CR-2026-179 must have landed — B-13 was WAITING on B-12 and that dependency is real, not ordering preference. Companion to. scoping-notes/loomworks-b12-scoping-note-v0_6; B-11's closure (truthful answers with sources). Charter. Autonomous regime. Status. Ready once CR-2026-179 lands, with a scoped Step 1.

1. Summary

Asking a question of an engagement's Memory and getting a truthful answer with its sources shown. B-11 made answers truthful; B-12 (CR-2026-179) makes the whole engagement fit in the window this reads from. B-13 is the ask itself.

Step 1 is a read, not a guess. Claude.ai does not hold the current state of what already exists on this path — B-11's work may already have most of the machinery, in which case this is thin. The CR scopes the read first rather than writing an invented specification into §2.

2. Scope

Step 1 — read what exists (read-only). Determine what the ask path already has after B-11 and CR-2026-179: is there already a question→answer route over an engagement's Memory? What does it return? Does it already carry sources per Q-6's answer (sources shown on answers a model writes; not on answers the system assembles, which show their own material)? Report the gap between what exists and what B-13 describes.

Step 2 — build the gap. Per Step 1. Governed by two settled decisions that are not reopened here:

Halt condition. If Step 1 finds the gap needs a new render-type, a seed-level addition, or anything the seed is silent on, halt and report. Seed-level decisions do not get made inside a CR.

4. Build steps

| Step | What | Mode | |---|---|---| | 0 | Pre-flight. Confirm CR-2026-179 landed — do not proceed otherwise. | Auto, hard gate | | 1 | Read what exists on the ask path; report the gap. Halt if seed-level. | Auto, conditional halt | | 2 | Build the gap. | Auto | | 3 | Tests — answer truthful; sources present per Q-6's split; AI origin marked and not suppressible. | Auto | | 4 | Full suite (+ surface sweep if the surface was touched); ruff 0; mypy at/below baseline. | Auto | | A | Checkpoint. | Checkpoint | | 5 | Tag cr-2026-180-b13-ask-your-engagement. Push. | Auto |

5. Acceptance gate

  1. A question against an engagement's Memory returns a truthful answer.
  2. Sources shown per Q-6's split — on model-written answers, not on system-assembled ones.
  3. AI origin marked, non-suppressible.
  4. Full suite green, both gates clean.

your-engagement-v0_1.md. Confirm the CR number against the ledger first.

HARD PREREQUISITE: CR-2026-179 (B-12, the recall window) must have
landed. Confirm at Step 0 and stop if it hasn't — B-13 was WAITING on
B-12 for a real reason.

Step 1 is a read: find out what the ask path already has after B-11 and
CR-2026-179, and report the gap against what B-13 describes. The CR is
deliberately thin on §2 because that state isn't in Claude.ai's hands.
It's possible most of this already exists.

Two settled decisions govern and are not reopened: Q-6's split (sources
on model-written answers, not on system-assembled ones, which already
show their own material), and non-suppressible AI origin marking.

HALT at Step 1 if the gap needs a new render-type or anything the seed
is silent on. Seed-level decisions don't get made inside a CR.

Baseline: post CR-2026-179. Confirm current HEAD at Step 0.
