v0.1's D-1: the responder call is pinned to temperature=0 — making every LLM seam in the engine consistent, so the same input produces the same output, which is what makes a claim checkable.
On 2026-08-10 the Anthropic API began refusing the parameter for the responder's model (claude-sonnet-4-6: "temperature is deprecated for this model"), taking down every responder-composed reply in development (B-85).
The Operator's ruling, recorded here so nobody later reads the pin as still universal: the decision stands where it can be honoured and cannot where the API refuses. The responder now pins first and, on the API's exact refusal only, retries once unpinned — with the fall visible, not silent: a WARNING log and a per-seam registry (llm_compat.fallen_pin_seams()), so "this seam is no longer reproducible" is a findable fact. Any other error propagates un-retried. Unconditional removal was rejected: it would fix one seam at one endpoint and leave the same failure waiting at all the others, and it would drop the pin even where the API still honours it — which is what the decision was for.
Scope of the surrender, today: the responder seam only. The classifier (Haiku 4.5) still accepts the pin; every server-composed reply never touches a model; the other pinned seams (manifestation_organization, creation_conversation_memory, correction_check, find_files) still pin unconditionally. What would tell us a second seam has fallen: the same refusal message in that seam's own failure path — at which point it is wired through the same helper and the registry names it. (B-85; engine llm_compat.py; the responder's in-code comment carries the same account.)
